Information for International Delegates

Visas
All international visitors require a visa to enter Australia. Please make sure that you have checked with your travel agent as to the specific requirements for your nationality to enter Australia.  For the 2nd International Salinity Forum, the correct visa is a Business (Short Stay) visa, even if for part of your stay in Australia some tourism activities are planned.  Please refer to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website www.immi.gov.au/ for more details about electronic visas, health requirements or contact the Australian Consulate in your own country.

Letter of Invitation
The 2nd International Salinity Forum Secretariat will provide by email or fax a letter of invitation to delegates, if requested, to assist them in obtaining funds or visas. The letter of invitation does not in any way imply finicial support from the Forum. Whilst travelling to and in Australia, all delegates will be responsible for their own travel expenses. This includes airfares, groud transportation, hotel, meals, incidentals and travel insurance.

Overseas Travel/Medical Insurance
Travel and medical insurance is NOT provided by the Forum.  It is recommended that participants individually purchase some form of overseas travel/medical insurance in their own country, prior to coming to Australia.  For further information, please contact a travel agent or an insurance company in your country.

Goods and Services Tax (GST)
The Australian Government operates a Goods and Services tax of 10%.  This is applicable to ALL goods and services purchased.  The GST is an inclusive price and therefore is included in the advertised price of all goods and services.

General Information

Registration Desk
The registration desk will be located in the foyer of the Adelaide Convention Centre, North Terrace, Adelaide, South Australia and will remain open for the duration of the Forum.  The registration desk will act as your point of contact throughout the Forum.

Special Needs/Requirements
If you have any special dietary or disability requirements please indicate on your registration form.

Parking
The Adelaide Convention Centre operates both the Riverbank and Exhibition car parks, situated under the Convention Centre (Riverbank) and beneath the Exhibition Hall.  These are pay carparks.

Travel Within Australia
Adelaide is very central and relatively easy to get to.  Adelaide has an international airport so flying directly to Adelaide from overseas is an option.  Flying time from Melbourne to Adelaide is approx 45 minutes, from Sydney is approximately 2.5 hours and from Perth is approximately 3.5 hours.

Travel from Adelaide Airport to Adelaide City
Taxi services are available from Adelaide Airport.  A taxi fare from the Airport to Adelaide City costs $15-$20 depending on the day and time of travel.

Airport Shuttle Service
The Skylink airport shuttle operates Monday to Saturday and provides regular express bus service to and from the Airport and Adelaide City.  You can pick up the Skylink shuttle bus in from the central terminal outside the main doors.
